Sameer Sharma (3 May 1976 – 4 August 2020) was an Indian television and film actor. He was best known for his portrayal of Shaurya Maheshwari in Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke, Brij in Jyoti, Nitin in Dil Kya Chahta Hai and Krishna Agarwall in Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii.^[1] He was found hanging in his kitchen at his Mumbai residence on 5 August 2020.^[2]

Dil kya chahta hai is a show on star one which is a show about male bonding. Its a story about 4 guys who are best friends and they encounter some kind of a problem everytime and then how they come up with a solution in the end and then what they learn from it. Directed by Farhan Akhtar. With Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Akshaye Khanna, Preity Zinta. Three inseparable childhood friends are just out of college. Nothing comes between them - until they each fall in love, and their wildly different approaches to relationships creates tension.

Sharma hailed from Delhi, and moved to Bangalore after completing his education. He worked for an advertising agency, an IT company and for Radio City in Bangalore.

Later, he moved to Mumbai to pursue his career in acting. He made his television debut with STAR One's Dil Kya Chahta Hai (as Nitin) and following that, played Krishna Agarwal in Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki.^[1]

On SAB TV, he played Captain Naveen Singh Ahluwalia in Left Right Left and Mannat (Mannu) in Four. He also portrayed a hockey coach and an aggressive lover in the Veeranwali serial on 9X.^[3]

Later, Sharma played a negative role as Brijesh in NDTV Imagine's Jyoti.^[4] He also landed the lead role opposite Reena Kapoor in Sahara One's longest running show and Rajshri Productions show, Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki as Rishabh Johri.^{[citation needed]}

He also appeared in the television show Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?...Ek Baar Phir

Sharma has also played a supporting role in the 2014 Bollywood film Hasee Toh Phasee.^[5] He played the role of Shaurya Maheshwari in Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke.^[6][7]

Apart from acting, Sharma had been a part of several ad campaigns and modeling assignments.

Death[edit]

Sameer was found dead at the age of 44 at his residence in Malad West, Mumbai on the night of 5 August 2020. The police said on 06 August, 'Looking at body's condition, it's suspected that he died by suicide two days back.'^[2] His body was discovered hanging from his kitchen's ceiling fan ^[8] by the security guard.^[9] Police said that no suicide note was found at the spot.^[10]
